  • Got healthy never felt worse pleas help

This is long but please read. I’m desperate. I am 31 and I lived a pretty unhealthy lifestyle for the better part of my life. I smoked for over 10 years binge drank 2-4 times a month and ate very unhealthy. I quit smoking and drinking and started running. I’ve lost 60 pounds. I weigh 206lbs now. My problem is I’ve had many health issues. I’ve had 10+ sinus surgeries one of which was orbital cellulitis which was very serious. I had undiagnosed SVT for years before it was corrected by ablation. Still....

    Doctors Advocating for Patients

Can a doctor advocate for a patient to try to get the insurance company to cover the cost of an expensive drug? Linzess, used to treat constipation is about $380.00 and not covered by insurance. I have tried all OTC drugs and some prescription drugs to relieve this but no joy? Any thoughts?
  • Weight gain, and a sister’s attitude.

I agree that you are the one most capable and eligible to change your sister’s way of talking to you, caring as she could be about you! After all, “you teach people how to treat you”. I do not agree, however, that it is only lack of exercise that is barring you from losing weight, much helpful as physical activity could be, admitting that a genetic predisposition may be at play, for your weight gain. Maybe you can dig into your dietary habits; too much refined food, sugar and fat, low fiber, vegetables....

I was thin for years, eating very little but good foods. I drank some, but really exercised several hours a day. But had a parathyroidectomy , hysterectomy and thyroidectomy. My doctors were really not helpful after the operation esp. the Thyroid doctor. However, the doctors did the operations in one shot and immediately went from a little weight gain before the operation(size 9) to a size 18. My doctors refused to listen tome and would not give me a thyroid supplement. I went back to exercising....

    new to bariatric surgery

I am a 61 year old female that has struggled with her weight most of her life and now seriously considering bariatric surgery. I have borderline high blood pressure, have been diabetic for the past 15 years, high cholesterol, thyroid issues and knee problems. After years of considering the sleeve & the lap band without being convinced, due to issues that some of my friends have had with weight gain or complications afterwards, I've been scared to try them. Bariatric was always too invasive....
