    Senior's Forgetfulness in conversations

My 94-year-old mother is healthy and fairly active (walks 1/2 to 1 mile every day). She's recently been evaluated for dementia, and is healthy in that regard also. But whenever she is in a conversation, in person or on the telephone, she has great difficulty remembering words, or sometimes the whole topic of the conversation. It's not an issue when she's with her small group of friends, but when she's in any situation she perceives as stressful (i.e. having lunch with her young adult grandkids or telephone conversations), the words disappear, much to her frustration. She wants to take part in family activity and not just sit quietly. Are there any relaxation exercises or other tips that might help her?
