    Keto diet

    Hi all,

I've been doing this Keto diet for about 5 days now, and am hitting the goal (ketosis) judging by water weight loss, and ketone stick tests.

Just wanted to see if anyone on WebMD has tried this/a similar diet and had any thoughts/recommendations/comments?

If you don't know what the Keto Diet is, brief description below (wrote it myself )

The Keto Diet is a low carb (less than a slice of bread a day equivalent), moderate fat, high protein diet that starves your body of carbs, and forces your liver into a process called Ketosis, which is when instead of burning carbs for energy it breaks down your body fat and converts it into chemicals called Ketones, which are then used for energy.

    RE: Keto diet

Hello. I just started the VLC Keto today. It is medically supervised and I buy the meals. It is 800 calories a day. So far, I am ok. However, I am a little worried about feeling hungry.

    RE: Keto diet

What is the best book to read on how to get started?

Don't read a book, there's plenty of blogs. Mark's daily apple is good, and I highly, highly recommend Reddit (r/keto) where there are thousands of keto-ers looking to help or post progress pics.

I am a few months in, I have dropped 10kg, and am looking much better!

        Good luck.

Just a little correction here. The Keto diet is high fat, low to moderate protein, and very low carb. I have been doing this for about 1 month now. I think it is the best diet I have ever been on. I have lost a total of 14#. It seems to go against everything we have learned about fats. From what I understand, the more fat the better. lots of butter etc. Check out MCT oil to add to some of your foods to get more fat in your diet. Stick with it. I think you'll be happy with it. I know several people that have lost very successfully and keeping it
    off as well.
