Difficulty losing weight with underactive thyroid

I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid in May 2017 and since then i have been taking levothyroxine 50mg. I have lost only 3lbs in the last 8months, and I have been struggling with trying to lose weight. I am currently taking Vitamin B complex, selenium and zinc vitamins along with vitamin D to see if it would help improve my thyroid. I workout 4-5 times a week lifting weights and cardio and i watch my calorie intake each day but nothing seems to help. Is there anything else I can do or take to help with weight loss?

RE: Difficulty losing weight with underactive thyroid

I have an under active thyroid too (diagnosed when I was 16 about 2 years ago) and I've played field hockey and eaten very healthy through out my seasons and still have lost 0 pounds. I'm at a loss on what to do because before I knew what was wrong with me I gained some unwanted weight and I can't get rid of it!

RE: Difficulty losing weight with underactive thyroid

As a person gets older it is harder to loose weight and very frustrating. I hurt my spine in 2014 and had surgery and that's when I really started gaining weight, inactivity and than last year I had major surgery on my ankle and it was 3 months before I could walk. Now I'm just starting to move around more, but it's difficult and my stamina isn't what it was. I need to lose at least 50lbs. I had asked my doctor about a drug called Contrave and she said it's very effective. I can't take it until I'm off a narcotic I'm on and it doesn't look like I'll be off it for awhile! But maybe you can ask your doctor about it and get more info. It may be helpful for you.
