This attempt is going to be different then the first two times..... I am 50 years old and I started smoking when I was 14 years old so that mean 36 years I have been smoking. This time i had to the ER it was not a very nice seen that day i could not talk without coughing had fever and cold chills and could breathe and could not even walk as far as 15 ft without getting tired, when the doctor said i have Accute phneumonia. I knew it was even more serious. I am trying to quit now the first day without....
  • Kidney pain after quitting smoking

I'm 6+ weeks smoke free after a 25 year cigarette habit, chewing 2mg nicotine gum once or twice a day to keep the jones off. So far, so good. I'm eating well, excercising regularly, and staying hydrated, but this week I'm getting severe kidney pain, which I've noticed before in previous, less successful quitting attempts. When I've experienced this in the past, I've had ultrasound scans performed to check for kidney stones or other obvious damage, with negative results. Anyone....

    Just stopped Smoking...

I had stopped smoking in 2004 - had not smoked for 11 years. Then, in 2016, I separated, got divorced, sold a house, moved, two kids in college and starting taking on a bigger role as care giver to elderly mother - in another state so I started smoking AGAIN. I just bought a pack last night - smoked today and realized I HATE SMOKING! Broke the cigarettes, threw them in the trash and threw away my lighter. I joined this message board for support. I don't want to smoke and I need help. Next stop....

    Quit again 4 days ago.

Hi, I’m glad WebMD has this stop smoking message board for me to lean on and to have a place to be accountable and to go to when I need to talk through this. I had stopped smoking before for about 10 years but fighting for my daughter (still fighting) in a horrible still ongoing custody battle with an Alienating Parent that has Alienated my daughter from me 7-1/2 years ago ended up with me reaching for my drug fix of nicotine/cigarette after not seeing my daughter at month 7 and of course it got....

Addicted to smoking, my health depends on me quitting

Hi, I am glad I found this support page. I have heart disease, COPD with severe asthma, osteoporosis, and several other health issues that are all critical reasons why I need to quit smoking. I have tried e-cigs, vapes, Chantix, patches, antidepressant's, gum, lozenges, candy, eating, walking, exercising, yoga, support meetings, you name it, I've probably already tried it. Nothing helps, and several of the above mentioned attempts didn't agree with my stomach or my being prevented from....

    Addicted to Nicotine Lozenges

Hello, My husband is addicted to Nicotine Lozenges. He has never smoked but a friend of his at work started chewing Nicorette years ago and he would chew a few here and there and now years later he is addicted to the lozenges (the gum makes him feel sick). It's costing a fortune for this habit as he has 2 tablets in his month ALL DAY! I have done all the research I can do make him aware that its not healthy long term. He has high blood pressure already. He wants to stop but cannot do it. Does....

    Constipation after quitting smoking

I have been trying to quit smoking for approx 6 months, and have been able to deal with withdrawal symptoms fairly easily however cigarettes had always made me need the toilet and without them I become constipated and so have relapsed due to the discomfort after 3 weeks of not smoking in which time my bowel movements were around once a week and usually did not provide much relief. Are there any aids that could assist me or will this just have to resolve itself over time? Until I can have regular....

Not my first time trying to quit, but I believe I'm ready now

Hi everyone! I guess this is an introductory post if that's alright. I've been smoking for 20 years (with a few breaks and a few times cutting down as much as I could, still feeling a bit guilty and hopeless about these failures) and am now trying one more time with the patch, lozenges, and ecigs. Cold turkey turned me into a monster, and I am now trying to come up with the best combination of things which have worked the longest for me. I don't really have much support in my real life....

Day 2 - using Target brand nicotine patches

Hi All....I'm new to this. I am on day 2 of not smoking after about 30 years. Started Target patches after bad reaction to Nicoderm CQ and had to be on prendnizone for a week. I quit to be healthier and due to expense ($10/Pack in MA). I did quit for 7 months back in 2012 but severe weight gain and a bad car accident (broke my back) started me up again. I have joined a gym and try to go 3-4 times per week to combat weight gain along with making better health choices. I work full time and went....
