    How can I keep up my exercise, with Achilles Tendonitis?

    A few days ago I was out with my family for several hours, hiking. It is one of our favorite activities. However, by the end of it I had a terrific pain in my left ankle. Today I went to the doctor to have him look at it. He diagnosed Achilles Tendonitis (Tendinitis). So, I get I'll have to cut back on my walking and hiking, which I'm not at all happy about. But I don't want this to get worse, requiring surgery, etc. I do get to go back to the doctor in 4 weeks - hopefully he'll give me a clean bill of health and then I'll be off!!

    But until then I don't want to lose muscle tone in my legs, etc. What can I do, in order to keep muscle tone? I've begun to track what I eat with the MyFitnessPal app, so that I can cut back my caloric intake. I don't want to get flabby, either. But my muscle tone is what I'm really concerned about, so would like whatever pointers you can give me, please.
