    Syphilis/HIV

I had unprotected sex for the first time about 41 days ago. At day 12 I noticed a painless sore at the base of my penis and at day 25 I got tested for Syphilis (TPHA and VDRL) and they both came back negative. However, I was starting to experience more symptoms so I decided to get retested at day 40 for Syphilis (TPHA and VDRL) and HIV (ECLIA) and everything came back negative again. I will say the symptoms I faced were the sore on my penis, dry throat, swollen/sore neck lymph nodes, and an anal fistula. I haven't noticed any rashes on my hands/feet, itching, painful urination, fever, fatigue, muscle aches as I have been working out very regularly over the past two week. What is the likelihood of me still having an STD and is it possible it could be something else? I will be getting everything retested at 90 days as well.

    RE: Syphilis/HIV

You could be suffering from several things ... Let's start with your anal fistula. If your are, indeed, suffering from an anal fistula, you need to see a doctor about it. In most cases, it requires surgery.

As for the rest, well the sore at the base of your penis could be caused by a simple ingrown hair that got infected. Your other symptoms sound like mono.

However, I am not a doctor and you really should consult one ... even if only to set your mind at rest.

: I will definitely consult the fistula with a doctor, I was worried that it could be caused by heavy lifting but when I heard that it could be due to an STD I got nervous. In terms of the sore, it is in a place were hair grows but it never was painful so I figured it was unlikely an ingrown. I took a picture of it just so I could have a record of it once I consult a doctor back in the United States.

    RE: Syphilis/HIV

Hi You sore on your penis could be just a cyst, these do happen, and from what you saying the rest of your problems could be just down to stress, and stress will bring what your problems are now.

: I wondered if it could be a cyst as well but the sore was sunken in and painless. I'm not sure if there are cysts of that nature. I wouldn't doubt that some symptoms may arise from stress considering this has been bothering me for over 30 days but I wanna be sure I'm not stressing for no reason, especially if there are other explanations for my symptoms.
