Will I become addicted if I start taking pain medications?

It's been a week I am feeling pain in my knee. A week before I jumped from some height, and that time, I felt nothing. But after two or three days, I started feeling pain and its getting worse sometimes. It's not regular, but sometimes I feel pain. It's hard to walk sometime, that's why I hardly run. My friend suggests me some medications, but I am a little bit worried about taking it. I don't want to become an addict. I just want to know that I would get addicted or not. Once I get the confirmation then only I will take medication.

RE: Will I become addicted if I start taking pain medications?

    Hello!

First of all, not all drugs are inherently addictive, I know opioids and some narcotics are, but I do believe that the use of pain killers over a long period of time can make our bodies drug-dependent, which could be sort of an addiction, or in some cases the sustained use of a certain pain killer can cause the drug to stop working for you making you move to stronger medications.

My advice is: use them wisely, and try to work on the root issue that is causing the pain.

If you have mild to moderate pain in your knees, I recommend taking Acetaminophen, which is recommended as the best treatment for mild to moderate pain, such as foot pain, knee pain, back pain, headache and so on.
