I've been dealing with sciatica on a daily basis for many years. I've had numerous injections, been on muscle relaxers, hours of physical therapy, tried custom shoe inserts, chiropractors, acupuncture and several other therapies. Is getting a nerve cut, or root nerve ablation a possibility? Possibility to lower or stop the constant pain? I'm talking over 40 years. Getting around is more difficult all the time. Falling happens frequently so I rarely leave my home and I'm only 62. I'm no longer on pain meds, it's been over 5 years since I took any. I use 3 ibuprofen every 3 hours just to try to function.

    RE: Sciatica

Have you ever been told or aware that Ibuprofen can elevate your liver enzymes? I understand everyone's bodies are different. I can't take ibuprofen so I stick to an extra strength Tylenol instead.

    RE: Sciatica

Hi, I have the same problem with sciatica. Have you ever tried radiofrequency ablation? I have done this numerous times and it's what gives me the most relief. The nerve is killed by the heat of the injection and resolves my pain for sometimes more than a year. The nerve does regenerate, but the procedure is repeated if there is a significant amount of pain again. Fortunately, I've had a great pain management doctor for many years. He has always told me to never have surgery as this can open the door to more problems. RFA, performed by a good physician, may be helpful to you. I would be concerned about the amount of ibuprofen you take. Check with your doctor and make sure that it's ok for you to take the amount you're taking. Ibuprofen can cause many problems when taken for a long period of time and in a large quantity. Each person is different, but you should check to make sure that your doctor thinks the amount you take is safe for you. Good luck. I hope you find relief for your pain.
