Taking opiates for pain. Now neurontin.. I dont think so.
Concerned about the state of painkillers in the U.S. i have been taking oxy ir and oxycontin for 17 years an now with the drug addicts opoid epidemic for lack of a better term ive been forced to stop what has worked flawlessly all this time and told by a pain mgt dr i need neurontin an epileptic drug with a plethora of side fx. No way am i taking this drug. Suicidal tendencies, tremors, personal mental changes... Man. I am in PAIN. I am not going to take a psychoactive drug and change ME. It makes no sense to me. I had a motorcycle accident in 1985 shattered my hip n pelvis not my mind. Can anyone help us, the people with real pain. Not a mental issue. Not an addict issue. HELP

RE: Taking opiates for pain. Now neurontin.. I dont think so.
Hey johnnyamp
I would like to suggest to consult a registered massage therapist (
http://www.physionow.ca/services/registered-massage-therapists/
), who can really help with your mental situation. The pain management can also be done using this massage therapy. Once, I was also an pain killer addict. But i have undergone massage therapy from clinic in Mississauga, which helped to change me. Please do give a try. I t may help you!

So what has been the outcome. I am in the same situation with having ultrams threatened to be taken away from me. Only thing that has given me a quality of life. Are we being forced to live back in misery with chronic pain??

neurontin makes my pain more intense. and that person who gets massages, does he/she not understand this is not a mental issue. It is chronic pain. what may work for one person does not work for another person. But we are all going to be labelled addicts using any kind of pain meds is my guess and that is some deep BS

Thanx for your concern but it is not a @$!#;&& mental issue number one and you cannot massage bone pain into pleasure. I shattered my hip n pelvis in 9 places and was put back together with a rod a plate and six screws in 1985. In 2011 i broke my right wrist plate n 2 screws. 2014 replaced my hip. Im only 52 now feel about 75. I know howw to give fantastic massages and it does not help. Mby until it rains again but that happens waaaay too often. Thx 4 the suggestion but I've been living in hell with satan on my right side (my hip) since i was 20....life's a *** and living with pain is not in my mentally sound mind. Sorry if i sound bitter.

Hi Johnnyamp, I know exactly what your going through! I have been on oxycotin and morphine for the past 24 years, I had a spinal fusion 2 times that left me in chronic pain due to a work injury. They cut 30 of my pills off and as of now they want to take another 30 pills! I have permanent nerve damage . Who the *** are they to tell me I am taking to much? Now they know how much pain your in? What they did is sold every person who needs these meds in order to have some quality of life down the river in order to stop druggies from abusing these drugs. They are just going to find something else. What are we supposed to do commit sucicide? They wonder why people goes off the deep end? I know I am not living in pain again like I used to. There is no talking to these assholes because their mind is made up. I applied for medical marijuana, that is a *** joke too! The state wants 75.00 for paperwork, 250 the first time you get it , and 150 everytime you go. Like someone on a fixed income can afford that. God be with us! Don't know what I'm going to do! PS if the language offends anyone take my freedom of speech too!

You hit the nail on the head... Everywhere i turn its no. No opiates
. ive been taking oxycontin 80mg oxy immediate release 30 mg and percocet 10mg for 17 yrs due to tolerance its a lotta pills but lt works. My dr closed his practice . i saw him since 2001. And now i went from 240 percs 240 ir and 120 oxycontin to 000. What the hell is that??? I know thats a lotta meds but my dr was not just family practice he is also head of a rehablitation nursing home for people who have b e en in bad physical situations and he is a head geriatric dr at 2 hospitals here in ny. But what could he possibly know. Right? I cannot deal with this either

I'm going through a similar thing. I'm on tramadol and the doc was going to take me off it completely. I guess all of us chronic pain sufferers will have to suffer needlessly.

Yeah we are really going to suffer. Its so wrong. We should all march(limp) on washington or something to put a stop to the suffering of non druggies that need our opiates. I mean come on who the hell has that much power to tell pain riddled people u cant get out of pain because drug addicts screwed it up. Does this make ANY sense? I have had my pain controlled without paon mismanagement being involved. Now that we can only go to them, we are mismanaged into nopioid hell ..... What the f.:%k

RE: Taking opiates for pain. Now neurontin.. I dont think so.
I understand your dilemma and frustration. Neurontin is a very nasty drug. I was put on it and it affected my thinking. I was like a zombie. Did nothing for pain.
I have chronic pain from fibromyalgia, RA, degenerative disc disease in spine. Also have osteoarthritis.
The problem today is the crackdown on opiates. Just because a few people abuse them we all have to suffer. Taking someone off an opiate and telling them to take Neurontin is a joke. The docs also say some antidepressants relieve pain. Yeah right.
All I get is Tramadol and that barely works. It's the equivalent of taking a baby aspirin.
I don't know what the answer is but I feel for you. I feel for all of us chronic pain sufferers.

Yeah you are so right. I have been on opiates for 17+ years with no probleme except a tolerance to the painkillers. Now...i went from a healthy guy to a close to bedridden zombie. My meds enabled me to walk almost normally and now i can't even clean my damned house for 5 weeks now.unfair treatment by wat should br called pain mismanagement and a nopeoid epidemic for the needy. WTF dont they ge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????*;!*!/=@\£#*;×+;#&%_£:(×%$)_%&)/*#$

I agree. People with chronic pain want the pain meds so they can function halfway as a human being. We're not asking for opioids to get high. I know all about a house that needs cleaning. I haven't been able to clean it properly for years.
I'm going in for a total right hip here soon. My left is also almost bone on bone. Had my right knee done 7 years ago. The left is shot. Sigh.....plus I have a husband on disability and he's not in as bad as shape as I am. Just lazy and doesn't want to do anything.

: I have the same physical problems you do. I'm being told Suboxone is the new chronic pain therapy, even though it's not normally used for that. Look it up. I use cannibas and Suboxone to get off 3 opiates. I'm using Suboxone now for chronic pain relief, it seems to be working and the doctors don't limit the use. It's neither an anti depressants or seizure medication. The doctor has to be specially trained and certified for this treatment. Good luck!

We're all going to be in trouble!! My pharmacist and doctor told me the government is rationing the amount of opiates each pharmacy can order. When they're out they can't get anymore until the next month. What's going to happen?

We are so screwed. Like I have been saying, I was receiving a lot of opiates due to the length of time I have been disabled...34 yrs...and now I'm viewed as a drug addict by many, including people like this anonymous a..h..ole and his pot txt. I'm a pot smoker myself and the difference btwn pot n opiates on pain like we have is like nite n day. Stop trying to make this a mental issue all you who are clueless...anyway I really don't know what we are to do..being looked at as a dopehead is just stupid.

I agree, I'm 62 and for almost 16 years was on heavy dose of pain meds. Never got high off them the, I was just able to function and have a life. Now I can't do anything. I have no life as I'm in constant pain and pot does not help my pain. I have used CBD oil and that helps a little but is so expensive since I get very little disability monthly. It's not right at all that the doctors get us addicted then yank it from us and leave us to fend for ourselves. Anonymous needs a life cuz he obviously doesn't have pain issues so should not even be posting his garbage on here. He knows nothing about what we go thru daily.

RE: Taking opiates for pain. Now neurontin.. I dont think so.
I'm going to be short, sweet and to the point here...Good luck!! You will never get your pain medication back!! Like many of us who suffer from chronic pain, you will have to suffer. I have DDD, Degenerative Disc Disease. The only time I am not in pain is when and if I can sleep. I have been to 8 different Drs and not one of them will prescribe a pain medication. I wish you well!!
