    In your recent article and slide show on osteoporosis, you failed to mention hyperparathyroid disease that is a readily surgically correctable, fairly common cause of early onset osteoporosis. More common in women than men, the diagnosis can be made with thorough office clinical evaluation along with blood tests including serum calcium and parathyroid hormone (PTH) and possibly others.
