    Tooth #2 Crown vs Extraction

To start, I do not have any wisdom teeth, so this tooth is the last one. I really don't want to spend $1,000 on another crown (already have 2). My concern is the rest of my teeth moving if this tooth is extracted. If age is a factor, I am 46. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Tooth #2 Crown vs Extraction

I know that there's mixed views on this. I have a crown on one of my bottom teeth but opted to just get my top back tooth extracted because the cost was much less and money was really tight at the time. As it was explained to my by my dentist, while a crown is preferred it wasn't 100% necessary in my case. There wasn't really a question about getting a crown on the bottom because those teeth take the most biting force so going without down there wasn't an option for me. I honestly haven't noticed a difference in my bite or that my teeth are shifting with the hole on top (my teeth were pretty tight to begin with so it may have actually helped me), and I have no trouble eating. Everyone's mouth is different though so it's probably worth a serious discussion with your dentist.
