    Extremely worried

Hello everyone. So i am a 34 years old heterosexual male. I had unprotected sex with 4 different women in Novemeber of 2017 on the following dates: 11/04, 11/07, 11/11 and 11/17. I went through a messy divorce and just lost sight of what i was doing. No excuses, but i made my bed. I started to feel sick Novemver 29th with what I thought was a sinus infection. I took Augmentin Clav and prednisone for close to 3 weeks interchanging with Amoxicillin. For the the last 2 weeks of December i felt fatigued like i never did in my life. I also felt i was having extreme fever, but when i would take my temperature it would be normal. I had diarrhea for about 3 days, but attributed it to the antibiotics. Fast forward to January of this year and i am still feeling sick. I have had zero appetite since January 1st. I normally eat lots of food. I can “feel” my body fighting an infection as i have these feelings of heat throughout my body on and off. The past week my stool has been interchangeable between really soft almost diarrhea like to normal looking brown stool. Last night though i had the worst case of diarrhea I’ve ever had in my entire life where it was just straight liquid coming out. I have taken the following Oraquick tests on the following dates:

    12/7 - Negative
    12/26 - Negative
    01/08 - Negative
    01/10 - Negative
    01/15 - Negative
    01/17 - Negative

I also went to CityMd yesterday (01/17) and took a rapid finger prick test called
Chembio HIV 1/2 Stat Pack Assay and the result was negative as well.

My last encounters since the last 2 tests range from 60-74 days. Can anyone give me any feedback on whether or not my results are accurate using the testing methods I’ve used so far. I really appreciate the feedback. Thank you ahead of time.

    RE: Extremely worried

Just to give an update. 3 of the women have tested negative for HIV from 11/04, 11/07 and 11/11. The one from 11/17 refuses to tell me anything outside of she doesn’t have anything. It’s been exactly 9 weeks since this encounter. I took another Oraquick this morning and it was negative at 9 weeks (63 days). I’ve been having a stiff neck and shoulders, night sweats and diarrhea since about January 1st up until today. Can someone please help me in what they think the accuracy is on an Oraquick at 9 weeks as well as a Chembio Hiv 1/2 Stat pak finger prick two days ago (61 days) since my last unprotected sexual exposure.

There's a way to block the diarrhea without disturbing other body systems. When I had an infection in some ways similar to yours only total restore pills fixed the issue. It won't help with other stuff, but diarrhea dissappeared. Check the review here www.reviewsbay.com/total-restore-reviews/. Hope it helps.

    RE: Extremely worried

"Technically" you will read that the recommended time period for antibody testing with the Oraquick product is 90 days after a "potential" exposure. However, in truth, 95 percent of newly infected folks will have enough antibodies present within 25 days of transmission to show a "reactive" (positive) test result. By 90 days this has increased to 99.99+ percent. 60-74 days falls somewhere inbetween these two stats.

In addition, the estimated risk of transmission for a male (from female partners) is relatively small; for insertive (that's you) unprotected penile-vaginal intercourse the estimated risk is 5 per 10,000 exposures with a partner KNOWN to carry the virus (I'm assuming this is what took place sexually). Your risk would be less since it appears you do not know if any of these partners were even HIV positive.

Sorry to toss all these stats at you but between the risk and the stats, it is highly, HIGHLY unlikely that any of these sexual encounters left you infected. In addition, the first stage of HIV, known as ARS tends to occur 2 to 6 weeks after transmission, is described as "flu like" in nature but only lasts (like the "regular" flu) for about 2 weeks. These symptoms tend to be respiratory in nature, not GI.

If you remain concerned and want to "cover all bases" (so to speak) you can, of course, take that final test at the 90 day mark from your last unprotected sexual encounter...but only to ease your anxiety.

    I hope this makes sense...

Hey Gail. Thanks for the reply. There’s only one exposure now left that can possibly have me infected. Today makes 9 weeks exactly and tested negative with Oraquick. Is the Chembio HIV 1/2 Stat Pak “more” accurate (tested negative at 61 day, not 60) because it involved blood from finger prick?

And yes it was unprotected vaginal intercourse. I did not ejaculate inside of her.

Oh and like how i had mentioned above Gail, 3 out of the 4 have tested negative with 4th generation ab/ag blood tests from city md. The only one who remains uncertain is the most recent exposure from 11/17 as she gave me a vague answer saying she was clean and then refused to speak anymore. That is the one that has me most nervous.

Both tests using either blood or the Oraquick method will provide accurate results.

Hey everyone. Just to give an update, i have tested negative today with Oraquick at 73 days (10 weeks, 3 days). Just felt like i should keep everyone up to date as to what is going on, whether good or bad, a as i see once people test negative they disappear. Whether i test negative or positive within the next couple of weeks i will participate in HIV/AIDS walks and do volunteer work as my experience has been a real eye opener in how precious life can be. Here’s hoping to test negative throughout 12-13 weeks. I am only using Oraquick fyi and also got one negative results 12 days ago using a finger prick Chembio HIV 1/2 Stat Pak assay (2nd generation also). Any feedback would be helpful. Thank you for your responses so far Gail.

I am still feeling sick with the same symptoms btw. Constant diahrrea every day, fatigue, feeling unwell, lower back pains now and a stiff neck on and off.
Sounds like the flu that is going around for so many.
I’ve been sick since November 29th though Gail, with the current symptoms i just listed since January 1st. Do you foresee a positive result after 73 days?
And i mean using Oraquick only.
        Nope...

Hey everyone and Gail. Just wanted to give an update. I did two 4th generation HIV AG/AB tests (one with reflexes. What does that mean?). One at a hospital where they took blood from my vein and i waited a few hours for the results after it was tested in the lab and another at an urgent care that sent the samples from a blood draw also to Quest Diagnostics. Both are non reactive at 84 days. Is this conclusive? I still feel sick and it’s definitely not anxiety, trust me.
Yes; these tests are certainly conclusive. You are HIV negative. Whatever is causing your symptoms has nothing to do with HIV.

        What does “with reflexes” mean?

Hey BK. Are you still around? I am having all the same symptoms that just will not go away, and I am curious to weather you found a cause. I had protected sex with a woman of unknown status nearly 11 weeks ago. Tested neg with oraquick swab at 9 weeks. First felt sick two weeks after first encounter with this women, and around 5 days after the second encounter. Slept with her twice. Monday 3/12, and Monday 3/19. Still feel sick right now. So tired, head feels so strange, loss of appetite sometimes for a week or more, diarrhea that comes and goes, black stool for a week just last week, weakness, headaches, etc. I was very healthy prior to the encounters, and have not been since. I’m scared. I know I’ve been told to trust my results. But what am I dealing with here? It’s definitely something, and something I’ve ne we experienced before. I have a pregnant wife who I love. I’m worried about my unborn daughter. I made a mistake and definitely learn the biggest lesson of my life. This seems to be going around. A lot of unexplained illness after sex that doesn’t seem to be hiv. After I initially got sick I felt amazing for the next 5 weeks. Then it hit me again and has not let up since. Please let me know if you know anything. Or just chat with me about this. I’m freaking out.
