If not Crohns what is it ?

I suffer from chronic diarrhea, bouts of vomiting and stomach pain. Had colonoscopy and upper GI endoscopy. Showed inflammation yet pathology says NO Crohns/ colitis. Also have weight loss, feeling bloated and generally don't want to eat. GI doc says Crohns, primary doc says no !!! Crohns meds not working. I am at a loss. Could it be EPI ??? HHELP

Inflammation is not normal - trust your GI doctor (also if you google Crohns and oral thrust there are *a lot* of results)

Try getting a 2nd opinion from another GI. If possible, take your medical records with you to avoid tests being repeated. I was told for 3 years I couldn't have Crohn's because I'd had Ulcerative Colitis (resulting in the removal of my colon) fifteen years before. I went to the Mayo Clinic to find out I did have Crohn's after all. I got them to refer me to a GI in my area and I never went back to the other one. Oral thrush usually comes from things like inhalers or nebulisers used for breathing treatments or some other medications. My husband has asthma and gets it all the time.

    Good luck!

Went for 2nd opinion w/ medical records. Doc wants to do more tests. Said if first doc biopsied where there was no Crohns pathology report would say no Crohns. I don't use inhaler so meds must cause thrush. STILL WAITING FOR A DIAGNOSIS !! Grrrrr

I'm going to try to make a long story short. This past December I was taken to the ER with some serious abdominal pain. Local hospital did a CT bc I can't have an MRI and saw a shadow by my liver. They shipped me off to a big hospital and did more testing and finally exploratory laproscopy surgery. Doc said my bowl was twisted and inflamed so he untwisted and said it wld be ok. As I'm in hospital still recovering, had those abdominal pains again! Doc did exploratory surgery and I woke up with a fissula at the top of about 8 inches straight down the middle of my gut. It is covered with an Eakins pouch and is attached to hose and a big drainage bag! I was in the hospital for 8 months and somewhere along that time I had another fissula grow about where the belly button is. They diagnosed me with Crohn's but the surgeon said I had a big hole in my stomach and many bleeding ulcers. He's supposed to be one of the best surgeon in my area. It's now going on 10 months and this hasn't healed at all. Doctors wouldn't even allow me to eat (was on TPN) except water to take meds and ice chips for 6 months! I seriously do not believe I have Crohn's Disease. I've not had any of those symptoms. I believe I have some ulcer disease. I saw my surgeon and talked to two other GI surgeon who all have told I would be lucky to find a surgeon to put this mess back together! My surgeon who did the surgery won't touch it, saying I had the worst gut he's ever seen. Gee thanks. I seriously hope whatever it is you have, it doesn't get this bad! A little background, about 20 years ago I had bariatric surgery and have had to take acid reducers since then too.

Unfortunately, I'm still not used to this! And not only would I like to talk to others to find how they cope. I find this so socially awkward that I haven't been going to Dyalisis for almost 2 weeks now. And yes I know the consequences. So I wish you the best of luck and hope this helps. Doctors don't always have the right answers!
