    Diabetes and condoms

I recently met a guy via online dating, we haven't met in person yet, but through our phone call, he said he's type 1 diabetic, and wearing a condom is not pleasurable for him, it's less sensitive for him due to having diabetes, so he wants me to be on birth control (talk about weird first conversation before first date).

Now, I've googled and haven't found anything related to men not wanting to wear condom because of diabetes as a reason. I mean, sure, some guys hates condoms and will use all kinds of excuses.

So I want to know is if that's a legit reason or he's just finding excuses and trying to get laid without a condom (might be what he's after and not a serious relationship).

    thanks!

    RE: Diabetes and condoms

Condoms reduce sensitivity for ALL guys. Expecting you to just go on BC to please him is a bit presumptive, don't you think? Condoms aren't just for birth control, they are also for STD control so you'd be at risk for that with simply taking the poll. Whether or not he's giving you a legit reason for not wearing a condom, ask yourself what is more important to you - his pleasure or your health?

I'm also pretty stunned that he'd be talking about this before you've even met in person ... so I'd go with the "wanting to get laid without a condom" route. He actually comes across as a bit creepy to me ...

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is actually common among men having diabetes. Diabetes affect the blood vessels in the penis making it difficult to maintain an erection during intercourse.

The point is, it can be a "legit" reason depending on his level of control of his T1D.

Protect yourself don't have sex with him without him having a condom on. Also both of you should get tested before any sexually act.

    RE: Diabetes and condoms

    Hi,
Even if you found info to support his claims, STDs are a real thing and being that you two recently met be safe and practice safe sex. Diabetes can affect sensation however that is no excuse to not wear a condom. He is using that as an excuse...some guys without diabetes say the same thing. Be Safe and Be Smart!
