    Bergamot and metformin

Hello, im A 20 year old female and have been diagnosed with PCOS for 7 years now. I was prescribed 500 mg metformin at a young age and have been taking it for quite some time. I recently have been diagnosed with high cholesterol a few months ago (crappy genes i know) i eat healthy and dont eat any red meats. Havent had my labs checked recently due to the Covid pandemic. I just purchased a bergamot 500 mg extract supplement i am supposed once everyday to lower my cholesterol levels, it also lowers my blood sugar. last time i got my blood sugar checked with the finger print at the hospital I believe it was 90? Im not diabetic so im not sure if thats good but my concern is would taking the extract lower my blood sugar too much?? Thank you for reading

    RE: Bergamot and metformin

The bergamot most likely will not affect your blood glucose (bg) at all if you haven't been diagnosed with diabetes or pre-d due to the pcos. It doesn't work that way. Especially since right now it seems that your pancreas is functioning perfectly well to keep your system balanced. 90 is a perfectly normal number whether it was taken fasting, or at any other time of day. Try not to worry.

    RE: Bergamot and metformin

Please, let your physician know what you're doing. Because, there's no way in the world he/she prescribed this "supplement" as a solution
for your problems. You're doing this, all, on your own...

With that said, by the regulations that control the sale and distribution
of "supplements", they cannot possibly result in you going hypoglycemic (too low blood sugar). Supplements don't have to do what they claim to do. But, if taken as prescribed on the label, they cannot cause potential harm, either. This is why, buyers have no recourse against supplement manufacturer.

You can sue prescription drug manufacturers (if harmed) and. It's done all the time. But, lawsuits against supplement makers are few and far between.
