    The act of laughing may result in acute bronchoconstriction, causing cough. This is what is known as hyper reactive airways. Often repetitive deep breathing triggers it as well. The fact that it responds to an inhaler makes this possibility highly likely. On the other hand, menopausal women can have this phenomenon due to loss of estrogen regulatory effect on breathing, and so do also other endocrine disorders.
