Chronic cough/breathing problems 2+ years!!! What to tell doctors to get them to run further tests? PLEASE ADVISE!!!!

Over two years ago I started having a bad cough and breathing difficulties. I was diagnosed with bronchitis. It has NEVER gone away. I am constantly coughing. I have times worse than others. Sometimes dry/hacking, sometimes wet/productive. When I start I cannot stop. I have coughed hard enough on several occasions that my vision has become covered in white spots and then gone black, it I cannot tell if I passed out. Occasionally I have pain in my heart, feeling like my heart is a pin cushion. I have seen many doctors blaming my weight, calling it a cold, telling me to see my psychiatrist to change my anxiety meds. All of these things are insulting. I feel miserable. Nobody will run any further tests than a chest x-ray. Nothing shows, but I know something is wrong. Not mention, I got married 6 months ago and in the last month my husband has also started hacking and coughing. On top of all of this, I am a nursing student and I am terrified of potentially passing whatever I have to a patient when I start clinicals. I don't know what to do to get doctors to take me seriously so I can get to feeling better. Please, please help me!

It could be a lot of things (I have that issue too) - my suggestion would be a thorough physical FIRST, to rule out any other causes - then try cutting back on how much dairy and eggs you eat (both can cause mucus), make sure you're drinking a LOT of water, make sure you're not smoking - look into herbal remedies - there are some wonderful ones out there - look up Dr. Christopher's Lung and Bronchial Formula or his Sinus Plus formula - BOTH are great for the lungs and the breathing and both will help you a LOT (i've taken them and continue to take them with great results)!

Hi, I really feel for you. I've been suffering from chronic cough (productive) for 7 long years. It all started with having a bad cold. I was admitted 4 times to ER for unable to breath. I slept on the couch sitting up position. Over 10 doctors including Chinese medicine folks treated me with no avail. I've lost 50 pounds from 180. I couldn't even stand up to take shower due to lost all of my energy. I was going through full box of tissues every night for cough up mucus. All doctors told me that I am suffering from bronchitis and asthma. Some said I had severe case if allergy. After spending iver $80k of my own my money, my family thought I've reached the end of road to survive. My skin started to dry up and I couldn't finish the sentence due to short of breath. Some doctor thought I have a lung cancer and went through complete test and came out negative. Since two years ago I am 100% normal without any symptoms. I accidentally found a cure myself. It was the asthma medication and advil for my back pain. These two should never be mixed. As soon as I stopped taking Advil, everything came back to normal in 3 months. Now I take Tylenol for my back pain and have no issues. It was a miracle discovery for me. I hope this respond replies for you also.
    Good luck.
