    Chronic itching

I have the exact same problem with severe chronic itching without skin rash, hives, etc. Over a year now, but recently more severe. Benadryl, hydroxizine, prednisone, zantac, and every topical there is, have been tried with no results. I'm at my wit's end! Nothing new in my environment at all! It's a deep, stinging itch that never stops. Done a lot of tests with no answers. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

    RE: Chronic itching

Maybe it's scabies. My dermatologist said I have scabies even though there was no rush, only small blisters which are very itchy.

    RE: Chronic itching

I have the same thing. It's been 8 months of torture. I too have gone through testing and switching meds, etc. I was finally diagnosed with an allergy to propylene glycol (PG). Everything you listed above has or could contain PG! It's a very frustrating because PG is in soaps, lotions, shampoos, other haircare products, detergents, clothing dye, antibiotics and other prescription drugs, even food! I was beginning to think that my condition was psychosomatic. Even family and friends were beginning to think it was caused by stress. Anyway, it hasn't been fun and I am just beginning the search for PG-free products. All the while the itching continues. Best of luck.

Pepcid is a histamine blocker. Take a Pepcid with your allergy pills. It worked in the hospital for me.

    RE: Chronic itching

I have encountered this also; and for the past six years. Mine is just on my upper arms; burning sensations along with being super itchy, scratching so much as well. This sort of thing makes me very miserable. I have tried hydroxyzine HCI 10mg. Took it Wednesday evening, it made me drowsy and would sleep longer too. Seemed to help. The medication Loratadine 10mg didn't as much. The idea of Pepcid sounds like a winner. I think I had taken this is the past when I was in a hospital. Did the Pepcid help for your itch (person on this message board that mentioned it)?
