How much should my baby weigh....

My baby is just over 5 months old and weighs 12 pounds 3 ounces. We have taken him to a gastro doctor who found nothing wrong with him other than reflux (which all babies have). My primary care pediatrician doesn't seem concerned with his weight but my gastro doctor is talking about feeding tubes. My baby is alert, happy, rolling over, sitting up, babbling, holding toys, and even wanting to stand up when we hold his hands. Should I be concerned?

Is he eating normally? What prompted the gastro trip? What was his birth weight? I've heard that at 5 months babies should be somewhere around double their birth weight. Maybe talk with your pediatrician about your concerns and see what he says. I certainly wouldn't skip right to feeding tubes. I know plenty of babies who were on the small side and caught up just fine (as long as he's eating normally and your pediatrician doesn't see any problems). Also, you don't say but is he steadily gaining weight?
