    RE: Evening Cravings

I feel you. I am the same. It took me a few tries (and I do eat a piece of candy now and then) before I was able to successfully switch to eating succulent sweet fruits to feed my sweet tooth. I know it's easy to give this advice! I really enjoy the natural sweetness of the fruits now. Especially Apple with Peanut Butter. Yum!

    RE: Evening Cravings

Nighttime is when I struggle too. A couple of my go-to sweet snacks for when I just can't say no to the cravings.

    1. "Ice cream" -- Basically I mash up frozen bananas or strawberries until they are the consistency of ice cream and then add in a couple dark chocolate chips. Usually does the trick!

    2. Flourless Brownies -- If I'm craving something more brownie or cake-like this is what I'll make. Just put 1 ripe banana, 1 egg, and 1 tsp cocoa powder in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour it into a mug and microwave for 1 minute. It's not quite as sweet as a normal brownie or cake, but it hits the spot.

I've found that the less I give into the cravings the less I actually crave these things. But I've also learned that when a strong craving hits, it's better to make one of these healthier desserts then to deny myself and then binge on something a lot less good for you.

    RE: Evening Cravings

I have been struggling a lot lately and I tend to give in. This week I started a sugar detox. Monday was day one and I plan to give it my all for 12 days straight to see what changes and how I feel. Night time at home is my struggle. When I get a craving I grab a pickle or a cherry tomato. That has helped, also I find something to do to take my mind off of it and that has helped too. Getting into a good book or doing some garden work has helped this week. Plus both are good destressers :)

Congrats on making it the work week! I think having something healthy readily available to snack on is definitely key. My go-to's are celery or melon :) Good luck on your sugar detox! I hope you'll check back in and let us know how you're doing.
