Halo Top or Arctic Zero ice cream

Has anyone tried one of these low-calorie ice creams? I've seen both of these brands in the supermarket lately, and the carton says they have something like less than 300 calories for a pint. If you've had them do they actually taste like ice cream? And do you think they would be a good substitute for when my sweet tooth kicks in? I can't imagine that they are as good, but one can hope.

RE: Halo Top or Arctic Zero ice cream

I've tried both and some flavors are better than others. I too have wondered if they are actually as good for you as they are made to seem. As far as which to eat...If you're the type of person who can have one small scoop of ice cream and be done, then I would personally go for whatever regular ice cream flavor is your favorite. If you're like me and have less than stellar self control, I've found the low-calorie ice creams to be a good compromise -- you satisfy your cravings without the guilt.

I had halo top chocolate peanut butter; the fat content was only slightly less than Dryers slow churned which advertises half the fat. It was not very creamy but flavor was good.
The Article zero I had was in no way recognizable as ice cream. It was hard frozen and when it warmed up it was not creamy in the least I felt that it was not worth the money.

RE: Halo Top or Arctic Zero ice cream

I have tried Halo Top. I have not heard of Arctic Zero. You should be able to find Halo Top at Krogers. It was ok. I purchased chocolate. You have to let it sit out at room temperature about 4 minutes. Straight from the freezer it is a little chalky. My Weight Watchers instructor had mentioned it as a brand to try out. I will purchase it again. I will also search for Arctic Zero to see which one I like the best.

What flavor did you try? I wasn't a big fan of the chocolate, but I've heard the birthday cake is pretty good.
