    Abdominal muscle pain

I am a 56 year old female and for the past 4 months I have been experiencing abdominal muscle pain. I have been out of work the whole time and I do not seem to be improving much. The pain is burning and it goes from the top of my rib cage down to my hips all across my abdomen. My GP believes it is from overuse - my job is on my feet and I do a lot of running around and carrying heavy loads. I do feel better if I rest but as soon as I start walking around or standing, I begin to tire. I guess my question is what kind of a doctor should I be seeking out? It seems like this is too long for simple muscle strain.

    RE: Abdominal muscle pain

I would see a pain management specialist. They can order diagnostic testing such as a CT scan or MRI and then develop an effective treatment plan.

    RE: Abdominal muscle pain

OMG I am going thru the same thing, it has been over 2 months. The only difference is I have a sit down job no heavy lifting. The last 2 months go back and forth with GI (twice with two different), My primary Dr 3 times. Pain management Dr. was assigned but took 2 weeks to get my paper work to them to call my Primary Dr. that they don't treat my issue. Now starting over. I am in so much pain and pain going across my upper abdominal and left side back. I am currently taking Lyrica for the needles and burning feeling and Ibuprofen 1000 mg for pain but I am getting sharp pain and swelling in that area.
