    Newborn with Tummy ache

My 5 week old grand daughter had some congestion last week and ER Dr recommended giving her Pedialyte. We purchased the grape flavored because that was all the store offered. She took it for 2 days until her congestion problem passed. Now we are having a difficult time getting her to take her formula again, I assume, because the Pedialyte was so much sweeter than the formula...she just cries when we try to feed formula...any thoughts?

    RE: Newborn with tummy ache

Although it's been MANY years (almost 10), when my son got the stomach flu at 10 months old, he suddenly became lactose intolerant. Seriously. Every time I tried to give him formula after that flu, he projectile vomited. He had to go on soy formula for the next 2 months until he was completely weaned from the bottle. After that, I progressively weaned him back onto whole milk. He's fine now. He was a very colicky baby to begin with, so that may have had something to do with it.
